Getting There

Walking
From the center of Hawassa, head south on the main road towards the lake. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with the road leading to the Hawassa University campus. Turn right onto this road and follow the signs towards the university. Keep walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach a roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit, continuing on the same road. After approximately 1 kilometer, you will see a small sign for Kuywata Mountain on your left. Follow this path, which will lead you directly to the base of the mountain.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Hawassa. Start from the main market area and cycle south towards the lake. Go straight until you reach the intersection with the road leading to Hawassa University. Turn right and continue cycling for about 1.5 kilometers. At the roundabout, take the second exit. After cycling for around 1 kilometer, look for a sign on your left for Kuywata Mountain. Follow the path leading up to the mountain. Ensure you are equipped with water and wear suitable biking gear.
