Getting There

  • Walking

    Start your journey at the center of Axum, near the St. Mary of Zion Church. From the church, head north on the main road (Mekelle Road). After approximately 500 meters, you will reach a junction. Take a left turn onto a smaller road. Continue straight for another 1 kilometer, passing by local shops and residences. You will see signs pointing towards the Tombs of Kings Kaleb & Gebre Meskel. As you approach, the tombs will be visible on your right. The entrance is marked and there are usually local guides available.

  • Walking

    If starting at the Axum Museum, exit the museum and turn right onto the main road. Walk straight for about 700 meters until you reach the junction by the St. Mary of Zion Church. At the junction, take a left turn onto the smaller road. Continue walking for about 1 kilometer, keeping an eye out for signs indicating the direction of the Tombs of Kings Kaleb & Gebre Meskel. After a short walk, you will find the entrance to the tombs on your right.
