Walking
From the center of Bahir Dar, head towards the main road (also known as the Gonder Road). Walk straight until you reach the roundabout at the entrance of the city. At the roundabout, take the exit towards Dek Island using the signs indicating the direction. Continue walking straight for about 2 km until you reach the shores of Lake Tana. Keep walking along the lakeshore until you reach the ferry terminal. You can take a ferry from here to Dek Island which is about 15 minutes across the lake. Once you disembark on Dek Island, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Narga Selassie Church, which is approximately a 10-minute walk from the ferry dock.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the shops in Bahir Dar, preferably near the city center. Start by cycling towards the Gonder Road, continuing straight until you reach the roundabout at the entrance of the city. At the roundabout, take the exit towards Dek Island. Bike along the lakeshore, enjoying the views of Lake Tana as you go. After about 2 km, you will arrive at the ferry terminal. Park your bicycle securely and take a ferry to Dek Island, which will take around 15 minutes. After arriving at Dek Island, ask locals for directions to Narga Selassie Church, which is a 10-minute walk from the ferry dock.
Public Transport (Ferry)
From the Bahir Dar city center, walk to the ferry terminal located along the shores of Lake Tana. Purchase a ticket for the ferry heading to Dek Island. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive, you will need to walk approximately 10 minutes to reach Narga Selassie Church. You can ask locals for assistance on the best path to take once you are on the island.
