From the center of Harar, head towards the main road, Bole Road. Walk east until you reach the junction where you can see the Harar Grand Hotel on your right. Continue straight on this road for about 2 kilometers. Look for signs pointing towards Haramaya; you will pass by local shops and cafes. Keep walking until you reach a bus stop where you can see local buses headed towards Haramaya. Ask locals for direction to the bus heading to Haramaya Lake.
Bus
Once you reach the bus stop, board a bus that indicates it is going to Haramaya. The fare is usually very affordable. It takes approximately 30 minutes to reach Haramaya. From there, you can ask locals for directions to the lake; it is about a 20-minute walk from the bus station.
