10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley

We recently spent 10 days traveling around Ethiopia with Danakil Depression Tours, and it was honestly one of the most interesting trips we have ever done. We wanted to see very different parts of Ethiopia, so we chose an itinerary that included Lalibela, the Danakil Depression, Abune Yemata and the Omo Valley. It was a busy trip, but everything was well organized and we never felt lost or unsure about what was happening next. We started in Lalibela, and the rock-hewn churches were incredible to see in person. Photos really don't show how impressive they are. Our guide took us around the different churches and explained the history and religious significance without making the tour feel like a history lecture. We also had time to walk around and enjoy the town. Then came the Danakil Depression, which was probably the most unusual part of the trip. The heat was intense and some of the roads were definitely rough, but that's part of the adventure. Seeing the salt landscape, Lake Assale and the strange colors and formations around Dallol was something completely different from anything we had seen before. Camping in such a remote place was also an experience we will remember. We then traveled to the Gheralta Mountains to visit Abune Yemata. We knew beforehand that the climb would be difficult, but it was still more challenging than we expected! There are some steep and exposed sections, so you need to be comfortable with heights. Our local guide was very patient and helped us along the way. When we finally reached the church and saw where it was built into the cliff, it was absolutely worth the effort. The last part of the trip was the Omo Valley, where we visited Hamer, Karo and Mursi communities. This was very different again. We enjoyed seeing how people live, their traditional clothing, houses, farming and daily activities. Having local guides with us helped us understand what we were seeing instead of simply arriving, taking photos and leaving. One thing we really appreciated was how the team handled all the logistics. This was not an easy itinerary because we were traveling through very different and remote parts of Ethiopia, but the flights, vehicles, hotels, meals and local guides were all arranged for us. There were definitely some long drives, early mornings, heat and uncomfortable roads during the trip, but we expected that when we chose this itinerary. For us, those things were part of the experience rather than a problem. The guides and drivers were friendly and we felt well looked after throughout the 10 days. Whenever something needed to be changed or adjusted, the team helped us sort it out. A big thank you to everyone at Danakil Depression Tours for making the trip such a memorable experience. Ethiopia has so much variety, and in just 10 days we saw places that felt completely different from one another. If you are looking for a trip that combines history, adventure, incredible landscapes and different cultures, we would definitely recommend this itinerary. Our tour guide, **Teshome**, was exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable about Ethiopia’s history, culture, and the places we visited. He was professional, courteous, patient, and always willing to answer our questions. He took the time to explain what we were seeing and helped us gain a much deeper appreciation for Ethiopia and its people. Our driver, **Zaki**, was equally outstanding. He was friendly, courteous, and an excellent driver. He knew the roads and the different locations extremely well, and throughout our travels we always felt comfortable and safe. What impressed us most was how both Teshome and Zaki went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, safe, and enjoying ourselves. We never felt rushed, and they made the entire experience feel personal rather than simply like another organized tour. We came to Ethiopia wanting to experience the country, learn about its history and culture, and meet its people. Teshome and Zaki helped make that experience truly memorable. 11 Days Danakil Abune Yemata Lalibela and Omo Valley

⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Incredible 6-Day Ethiopia Adventure – Highly Recommended!

We were a group of six people and spent an unforgettable 6 days exploring some of the most amazing and culturally rich places in Ethiopia with Danakil Depression Tours. From the extreme landscapes of the Danakil Depression to the ancient churches of Abune Yemata, the historic wonders of Lalibela, and the fascinating cultures of the Omo Valley, this trip was an incredible experience from beginning to end. Our adventure started with the Danakil Depression, which was absolutely spectacular. The unique volcanic landscapes, salt formations, desert scenery, and incredible colors made us feel like we were on another planet. The experience was challenging because of the heat and remote environment, but the organization, transportation, guides, and support made everything much easier and more enjoyable. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Abune Yemata Guh, one of the most remarkable rock-hewn churches in Ethiopia. Reaching the church involved a challenging climb, but it was completely worth it. The location, ancient paintings, and breathtaking views were something we will never forget. Our guide was patient and supportive throughout the climb and made sure everyone in our group was comfortable and safe. We also visited Lalibela, and seeing the incredible rock-hewn churches in person was a very special experience. The history, architecture, and spiritual atmosphere of the place were amazing. Having a knowledgeable local guide helped us understand the history and significance of the churches much better. The Omo Valley was another unforgettable part of our journey. Meeting local communities, seeing their traditional way of life, learning about their cultures, and experiencing a completely different side of Ethiopia was fascinating. We appreciated the respectful way our guides introduced us to the communities and explained the traditions and customs. Throughout the entire 6-day trip, the team was professional, friendly, flexible, and helpful. Communication was easy, and they took care of the logistics so that we could concentrate on enjoying the journey. Traveling as a group of six can sometimes be complicated, but everything was well organized and our group had a fantastic time together. What we especially appreciated was that this was not simply a sightseeing trip. We experienced nature, history, culture, adventure, and local life all in one journey. Every destination offered something completely different. A huge thank you to Danakil Depression Tours and the entire team for making our trip so memorable. Ethiopia is an incredible country, and this journey gave us memories that we will carry with us for a very long time.
