To reach Awash National Park from Simien Mountains National Park by car, start by driving southeast towards the town of Gondar. Follow the main road (A3) for approximately 100 km until you reach the junction for the A2 road. Turn onto the A2 road heading south. Continue on the A2 for about 200 km. You will pass through towns like Debre Markos and then reach the outskirts of Awash. Look for signs directing you to Awash National Park. The final leg will take about 30 minutes to drive to the park entrance from the main road.

If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Gondar to Addis Ababa. Buses leave regularly from the central bus station. Once you arrive in Addis Ababa, head to the bus terminal and catch a bus headed to Awash. The bus ride from Addis Ababa to Awash takes approximately 4 hours. After arriving at Awash, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a private guide to take you to the entrance of Awash National Park. Be prepared for additional costs for the taxi, which could range from 500 to 1000 Ethiopian Birr depending on negotiation.
