Take a bus or minibus from Addis Ababa (Megenagna station) to Debre Birhan. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and costs 50-60 ETB. From Debre Birhan, take another bus to Ankober for 20-25 ETB. This second bus ride takes about 2 hours on a rough road. Once in Ankober, the palace is a short walk from the town center. Expect to pay around 100 ETB in total for the journey.
