Asheton St. Maryam Monastery

Asheton St. Maryam Monastery, also known as Asheton Maryam Monastery, is a revered monastic sanctuary located high in the mountains near Lalibela, Ethiopia. Set at an elevation of approximately 3,150 meters (10,335 feet) on Mount Abuna Yosef, the monastery offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.Believed to have been founded in the 13th century, possibly by King Lalibela himself, the monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and remains an important pilgrimage site for Ethiopian Orthodox Christians.
