Bete Abba Libanos, also known as the House of Abbot Libanos, is an extraordinary rock-cut monolith church in Lalibela, Ethiopia. The cubic capitals are adorned with carvings representing angel eyes.Legend says that Bete Abba Libanos was built in a single night by Meskel Kebra, King Lalibela's wife, with assistance from angels. The church is carved into a vertical rock face, similar to structures in Petra. Inside, the church follows a basilica plan. Some priests claim that a mysterious light emanates from the altar.
