Walking
From the center of Bahir Dar, head towards Abay Road, keeping Lake Tana on your left. Continue for about 20 minutes until you reach a junction with signs for the Blue Nile River. Take the road towards the river. The walk is straightforward and offers scenic views of the lake.
Public Transport
Take a bajaj (three-wheeled rickshaw), the most common form of transport in Bahir Dar, from the city center to the source of the Blue Nile. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey. A reasonable fare should be around 30-50 Birr for a private charter. Alternatively, you can take a minibus from the main bus station towards the river's direction. The cost is approximately 2 Birr per line of road.
Taxi
Taxis are available in Bahir Dar. A taxi ride from the city center to the Source of the Blue Nile will cost approximately 50-100 Birr, depending on your negotiation skills. Ensure the taxi is licensed and agree on the fare before you begin your journey.
