4.8

The Klakkur trailhead marks the beginning of a rewarding hike to the summit of Klakkur mountain, a prominent landmark near Klaksvík on Borðoy Island. The trail is known for its accessibility and stunning panoramic views, making it a favorite among locals and tourists alike. The hike begins at Hálsur, a mountain pass between Klakkur and Hálgafelli, reachable by car or a 3.5km walk from Klaksvík. From Hálsur, the well-defined path ascends gradually, traversing grassy terrain with cairns marking the way. As you ascend, the views expand to reveal Klaksvík nestled between two inlets, the islands of Kunoy and Kalsoy rising dramatically from the sea, and the vast expanse of the North Atlantic. At the summit, hikers are rewarded with a 360-degree vista encompassing the surrounding islands, including Kalsoy, known as "The Flute" for its distinctive tunnels, and Kunoy, home to some of the Faroe Islands' highest peaks. The panoramic views and relatively easy access make Klakkur a must-visit destination for experiencing the natural beauty of the Faroe Islands.
