Getting There

  • Walking

    The hike to Hvannhagi begins in Tvøroyri, Suðuroy. Start at the hospital and walk up to Ovari Vegur road. Continue left towards Trongisvágur for approximately 1.5km until you reach a gate with a sign indicating Hvannhagi. Pass through the gate and follow the orange-marked posts. The hike to Hvannhagi is moderately challenging, with an elevation gain of 278 meters and takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete. There is no fee to hike to Hvannhagi.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Tvøroyri, take the ferry Smyril from Tórshavn. The ferry journey takes approximately 2 hours. From the ferry terminal in Tvøroyri, you can take bus route 700 or 701 towards the center of Tvøroyri. Get off near the hospital, which is the starting point for the Hvannhagi hike. The ferry from Tórshavn to Tvøroyri costs approximately 100 DKK. Bus fares on Suðuroy vary depending on the distance traveled.
