Eggjarnar: A Majestic Mountain Peak in the Faroe Islands

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey in Vágur, which is the nearest town to Eggjarnar. From Vágur, head northeast on Route 1 (the main highway) towards Sørvágur. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 10 km until you reach the turnoff for Route 60. Take the exit onto Route 60 towards Eggjarnar. Follow Route 60 for about 5 km, then turn left onto a smaller road that leads directly to Eggjarnar. You will need to find parking at the designated areas near the mountain peak, as there may not be direct parking at the peak itself.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take the bus from Tórshavn to Vágur. The bus service operates several times a day, and you can check schedules at the local bus terminal or online. Once you arrive in Vágur, you will need to hire a taxi to reach Eggjarnar, as there is no direct public transport to the mountain peak. Taxis can be found at the bus station or arranged via local taxi services in Vágur. The taxi ride will take approximately 15 minutes and should cost around 150 DKK.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and are already in Vágur, you can also opt for a hiking route to reach Eggjarnar. Start from the center of Vágur and follow the designated hiking trails that lead toward the mountain. The hike is scenic but can be challenging, taking around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the peak. Ensure you wear good hiking boots and carry adequate water and snacks for the journey.
