Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Tórshavn, take bus line 300 towards Vágar Airport. The bus departs every few hours and the journey to Sandavágur takes approximately 35-40 minutes. From the Sandavágur bus stop, it's about a 15-20 minute walk to the Trælanípa trailhead; follow the signs. Bus fare is approximately 50 DKK [prices may vary].     From Vágar Airport, drive east towards Miðvágur. Continue through Miðvágur, following signs for Trælanípa. The trailhead is located a short distance from the village. Parking is available at the trailhead. Be aware that parking can be limited during peak hours. There is no parking fee. From the parking lot, it is a short walk to the landowners' reception to pay the hiking fee.

  • Walking

    From the center of Miðvágur, follow the road towards the church. From there, follow the signs to "Trælanípa/Bøsdalafossur". The walk to the trailhead is relatively easy and takes about 15-20 minutes. Once at the trailhead, follow the marked path to Trælanípa.

The path meanders past Lake Sørvágsvatn, with a final, steeper ascent to the viewpoint. Along the way, hikers can also visit Bøsdalafossur waterfall, where the waters of Lake Leitisvatn cascade directly into the Atlantic Ocean.Visitors should be prepared for changing weather conditions and wear sturdy hiking boots. A hiking fee of 200 DKK is required for adults (ages 16 and over), which contributes to the maintenance of the area.
