Car
If you are traveling by car, start in the capital, Tórshavn. Head northwest on Route 10 towards Vágar. Continue on Route 10 for approximately 45 minutes until you reach the intersection with Route 11. Turn left onto Route 11 and drive towards Sørvágsvatn. Follow the signs to the parking area near the waterfall. Park your car, and from there, you will need to hike about 30 minutes to reach Svartafoss Waterfall. The trail is well-marked, and the scenery along the way is stunning.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Tórshavn to Sørvágur. Buses run several times a day, and you can check the schedule online or at the bus station. Once you arrive in Sørvágur, you will need to walk to the parking area near the waterfall, which is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. From the parking area, follow the marked trail for approximately 30 minutes to Svartafoss Waterfall. Ensure to check the latest bus schedules for any changes in timings.
Hiking
For those who want to experience the area on foot, you can also start your hike from Sørvágur. The full hike from Sørvágur to Svartafoss Waterfall is approximately 1.5 hours one way. Begin at Sørvágsvatn lake and follow the trail signs towards the waterfall. It’s a scenic route but ensure you have appropriate hiking gear and check the weather conditions before you set off.
