Skansin: A Historic Fortress Overlooking Tórshavn

Getting There

• Walking

  Starting from the center of Vágur, head towards the waterfront and follow the path along the coast. Continue walking until you reach the bridge that connects Vágur to the neighboring island of Suðuroy. Cross the bridge, and you will find yourself in a scenic area with views of the ocean. From there, follow the signs directing you towards Tórshavn, as Skansin is located there. It is approximately a 15-minute walk to the bus stop for public transport.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  Once you reach the bus stop in Vágur, look for a bus heading towards Tórshavn. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time as services may vary. The bus ride will take around 30-40 minutes. When you arrive in Tórshavn, disembark at the central bus station. From the bus station, you can either walk or take a local bus towards Skansin. If walking, head towards the waterfront and look for signs pointing to Skansin, which is a historical landmark located along the coast.

• Walking from Tórshavn Bus Station

  After arriving at the Tórshavn bus station, exit and head towards the waterfront. Follow the path alongside the water, and you will eventually see the signs for Skansin. The walk from the bus station to Skansin should take approximately 15 minutes. As you approach, you will enjoy the beautiful views of the harbor and the surrounding landscapes.
