Suva Sea Wall: A Coastal Promenade

The Suva Sea Wall is more than just a barrier against the ocean; it's a vibrant hub of activity and a picturesque promenade that showcases the natural beauty of Fiji's capital. In 1882, the local people were moved by European colonial powers to Suvavou to make room for the new capital. The Suva Sea Wall has been developed to protect low-lying properties. The “Sea Breeze” project was completed in December 2012 and includes a 2500m walkway with garden features and landscaping. The Suva City Council has continued to improve the area to make Suva Point and the Nasese Sea Wall a more recreational and entertaining area. As you walk along the sea wall, you'll encounter Fijian families enjoying picnics, local vendors selling handmade crafts, and fishermen casting their nets. The lively atmosphere provides an authentic glimpse into Suva's community. Benches are dotted along the path, offering places to rest and take in the scenery. The sea wall is also a popular location for early morning or late afternoon joggers. The ongoing extension of the seawall demonstrates its crucial role in protecting low-lying properties. As the sun sets, the Suva Sea Wall transforms into a magical place, with the sky ablaze in colors, creating a perfect backdrop for photographs.
