Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Labasa, the largest town in Vanua Levu. Head south on the Queens Road (also known as Highway 1) towards Savusavu for approximately 45 kilometers. Upon reaching Savusavu, follow signs to the Savusavu Marina. From the marina, you will need to arrange a boat transfer to Nggoma Island, as there are no direct roads to the island itself. Boat transfers typically cost around FJD 100-150 per person, depending on the operator and the size of the boat.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Labasa to Savusavu. Buses depart regularly from the Labasa bus station and the journey takes about 1-1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Savusavu, make your way to Savusavu Marina, which is within walking distance from the bus stop. At the marina, inquire about boat transfers to Nggoma Island, which will typically cost FJD 100-150 per person. Make sure to check the boat schedules in advance, as they may vary depending on the time of day and weather conditions.
Private Vehicle and Boat Transfer
If you prefer a more comfortable option, consider hiring a private vehicle to take you from Labasa to Savusavu. You can arrange for a local driver or rent a car. After arriving at Savusavu Marina, book a private boat transfer to Nggoma Island. This option offers more flexibility in terms of timing and can cost around FJD 200-300, depending on the boat size and capacity.
