Getting There

Public Transport

From Lahti, take a bus towards Jyväskylä. Buses run regularly, and the journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Get off at the Liikola stop. From there, it's approximately a 2 km walk to Kammiovuori. Follow the signs towards Nutturintie and proceed straight until you reach the destination. Bus fare from Lahti to Liikola typically costs between 10-15 euros.
Car

From Lahti, head east on Route 12 (E12) towards Heinola. Continue for about 30 kilometers until you reach a roundabout. Take the first exit onto Route 24 towards Jyväskylä. Drive for another 15 kilometers, then turn left onto Nutturintie. Follow Nutturintie for about 2 kilometers until you reach Kammiovuori, located at Nutturintie, 19740 Liikola. Parking is available near the hiking trails.
Walking

If you are already in Liikola, trails to Kammiovuori are accessible from various points in the area. The walk takes approximately 30 minutes from the center of Liikola. Follow local paths leading to Nutturintie, and then continue until you reach Kammiovuori.

Located near Liikola, in the municipality of Sysmä, this scenic spot offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding forests and the glittering Lake Päijänne.The popular 4km hiking trail to the summit winds through diverse and atmospheric forest terrain. Along the way, hikers encounter interesting sights such as the impressive seven-meter-high boulder named "Linta" and Hiskias's Cave, named after a vagabond who, according to local legend, lived in the cave in the early 20th century. Information boards along the route provide insights into the area's natural features.The trail itself is considered challenging due to rocky sections, large roots, and steep inclines; support ropes are available at the steepest sections. Despite the difficulty, Kammiovuori remains a popular destination for families. The summit provides a spectacular vista, but caution is advised near the cliff edge.Kammiovuori is also part of the Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark, recognized for its geological significance. The bedrock reveals cracks and fractures, remnants of the ancient Svekofennic mountain range formed billions of years ago. The area has long been considered a mystical place; studies have revealed caves, some with water at the bottom, emitting steam in the summer.
