The Parola Armour Museum: A Chronicle of Finnish Armour

The Parola Armour Museum stands as a tribute to Finland's military history, specifically its armoured forces. Founded in 1961, the museum's mission is to collect, preserve, research, and exhibit armoured equipment, presenting the history, development, and operations of Finnish armoured and anti-tank troops. The museum boasts a collection of approximately 70 armoured vehicles, 40 anti-tank weapons, and even an armoured train. Exhibits include Finnish and foreign models, offering visitors an up-close look at these historical machines. Special rarities include the BT-42 assault gun (the only surviving example), the T-50 light tank (one of only two in the world), and the BA-10 armoured car (believed to be the only one of its kind). Beyond the hardware, the museum also honours the Finnish soldier, displaying the skills and successes of Finnish armoured troops, especially the wartime tank division. Uniforms of tankers throughout the ages are showcased, along with personal histories of those who served in the Armoured Division during the war. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions focusing on specific aspects of military history. Visitors can explore the museum's indoor halls and outdoor displays. Some vehicles even offer the opportunity to climb inside, providing a unique and engaging experience. The museum is open year-round, with most exhibits indoors and shelters for outdoor vehicles.
