Myllykulmankoski Rapids, or Virenoja Rapids, presents a refreshing natural sight along the Porvoonjoki River, located just north of Orimattila. The rapids showcase water flowing over a wide, rocky terrain, creating both vertical drops and gentler slopes. The total length of the rapids stretches 190 meters, with a total drop of 6 meters, including a main waterfall of approximately 3 meters. Historically, the site was known for its mills, with the first one established as early as 1586, and milling operations continued until the 1970s. Today, remnants of the old mill, including ruins and concrete debris, can still be seen, blending the natural landscape with a touch of history. Despite these artificial elements, Myllykulmankoski remains a captivating waterfall, particularly vibrant during the summer months when water flow is abundant. The area is easily accessible by car, with parking available on the north side of the river. Visitors can also enjoy a fireplace with a shelter, making it an ideal spot for picnics and relaxation.
