Discover more about Underwater Diving Destination Linnakoski

The Linnakoski Underwater Diving Destination offers a unique opportunity to explore a piece of industrial history beneath the surface of the Vuoksi River. Located near Imatra, Finland, this site features the submerged ruins of the Linnakoski power plant, which operated in the early 1900s. The power plant was decommissioned and submerged when the new Imatra power plant was completed, creating an artificial reef and a fascinating dive site. Divers can explore partially collapsed walls, rafters, and turbine openings, now inhabited by various aquatic species like crabs and pike. The site is marked with a buoy and two signposts, with the ruins located approximately 50 meters from the shore. Visibility typically ranges from 2 to 8 meters, with a maximum depth of 10 meters. Divers should be aware of occasional currents, which can be stronger on weekdays and during summer rafting events. The Linnankoski power plant is a natural and cultural site in Saimaa Geopark. The Visit Vuoksi project has improved the accessibility of the site and created a scaled picture map of the power plant ruin.
