    Discover more about Lonna Sauna

Lonna Sauna offers a unique and tranquil Finnish sauna experience on the small island of Lonna, a short ferry ride from Helsinki's city center. This island oasis provides a serene escape with its natural surroundings and historical significance. Once occupied by the Finnish army until 2016, Lonna Island has since opened its doors to the public, offering a blend of nature, history, and relaxation. The sauna itself is part of the revived urban sauna culture in Finland, paying homage to tradition while offering a modern and elegant interpretation of wooden structures. Designed by architect Anssi Lassila from OOPEAA architecture studio, the sauna building features a sculptural zinc roof and handcrafted wooden logs, creating a calm and almost sacred atmosphere. The two loft saunas are heated with wood-burning stoves, providing an authentic bathing experience with views of the sea. After a rejuvenating sauna session, visitors can cool off in the sea or enjoy the outdoor showers. Lonna Island also features a restaurant serving high-quality seasonal dishes with a modern take on traditional island cuisine, as well as a bar offering refreshing drinks and snacks. The island welcomes everyone, regardless of age, gender, or origin, and even allows dogs on the terraces and in the coffee shop.
