Car
From Joensuu, take the E63 highway towards Koli National Park. After approximately 90 kilometers, take the exit toward Rautavaara on Route 6. Continue on Route 6 for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 5. Turn left onto Route 5 and follow it for another 45 kilometers. You will then reach the town of Suojärvi. From Suojärvi, continue straight on the main road for about 25 kilometers, and you will arrive at Volcano Girvas. Ensure you have GPS or a map app, as some parts of this route may not have clear signage.
Public Transportation
Start your journey by taking a bus from Joensuu to the nearest town with public transit access to Girvas. You can catch a bus to Suojärvi. The journey takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive in Suojärvi, you will need to arrange for local taxi services to take you the remaining 25 kilometers to Volcano Girvas. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently.
Taxi
If you are already in the vicinity of Suojärvi or another nearby town, you can hire a taxi to take you directly to Volcano Girvas. Taxis can be booked via local taxi services or ride-sharing apps if available. The fare may vary, but expect to pay around 30-50 euros for the journey from Suojärvi to Volcano Girvas, depending on the time of day and demand.
