  • Ferry

    The primary way to reach the Ehrensvärd Museum is by HSL ferry from Kauppatori (Market Square) in Helsinki. The ferry operates year-round, with departures every 20-60 minutes depending on the season. The journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes. From the Suomenlinna main pier, walk for about 15-20 minutes to the museum. Follow signs towards the Great Courtyard; the museum is located in the Commander's House. Alternatively, a water bus operates from May to September, offering a slightly more scenic route. It stops at two locations on Suomenlinna: Kuninkaanportti and Tykistölahti. Disembarking at Tykistölahti provides a shorter, 10-minute walk to the museum. HSL ferry tickets cost approximately €3 per adult. A day ticket, valid for 80 minutes, is also available. Water bus tickets may be slightly more expensive. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at Market Square or via the HSL app.

    Once you arrive at the main pier in Suomenlinna, follow the main path. Walk through the arched walkway of the coastal barracks, past the church, and up to the crossroads. Turn right down the hill. Walk past the museum, over the bridge to Susisaari, up to the right through the arched passageway of the wall, past Ehrensvärd's grave, and take a right at the next turn. The Ehrensvärd Museum is located in the long, light-red stone building (B28) on the left-hand side. The main entrance is through the arched gate in the middle of the building.
