Car
To reach Highlands Hammock State Park by car from various locations in the First Coast area, start by navigating to I-95 South. Depending on your starting point, you may need to take local roads to connect to I-95. Once on I-95 South, continue until you reach Exit 118 for US-27 South towards Ocala. Merge onto US-27 South and continue for approximately 75 miles. Look for signs for Sebring and follow US-27 until you reach the intersection with FL-66. Turn right onto FL-66 East. After about 6 miles, turn left onto Hammock Road. Follow Hammock Road for about 2 miles, and the entrance to Highlands Hammock State Park will be on your left. Be aware that there is a small entrance fee per vehicle, typically around $5.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, there is no direct public bus service to Highlands Hammock State Park. However, you can take a Greyhound bus from Jacksonville to Sebring. Once in Sebring, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining distance to the park, which is approximately 10 miles away. Be sure to check the Greyhound schedule ahead of time for departure times and ticket costs, which may vary. It's advisable to book your taxi or rideshare in advance as well.
