Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, take the Florida Keys Overseas Highway (U.S. Route 1) to Islamorada. From the south, head north on U.S. 1 until you reach mile marker 78.5. Look for the sign for Indian Key State Historic Site. Park at the designated parking area near the entrance. Note that there is no fee for parking, but be sure to check the park's hours before your visit, as it opens at 8 AM and closes at 8 PM.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, take the Greyhound bus or local shuttle services to Islamorada. Once you arrive in Islamorada, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service (such as Uber or Lyft) to reach Indian Key State Historic Site. It’s approximately a 10-minute drive from the nearest bus stop. Be sure to confirm the fare with your driver, as costs can vary.

• Boat

  Indian Key Historic State Park is accessible by boat as well. If you have access to a kayak or small boat, you can launch from the nearby Florida Keys and paddle to the island. The park does not have a dock, so be prepared to anchor offshore and wade to the beach. Remember to check local boat rental services if you do not have your own. Additionally, be mindful of the weather conditions and tidal changes when planning your trip.
