Getting There

  • Bicycle

    Start at the University of Florida campus. Head south on SW 13th Street for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with SW 20th Avenue. Turn left onto SW 20th Avenue and continue for about 2 miles. You will then need to turn right onto US-441 S. After about 4 miles, look for the signs for Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. The entrance is located on the right side, just after Micanopy. Follow the road until you reach the visitor center.

  • Public Transit

    From downtown Gainesville, take the RTS bus route 1 (Red Line) towards the Oaks Mall. Get off at the stop at the intersection of US-441 and CR-234. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile south along US-441. Keep an eye out for the entrance to Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, which will be on your left. Continue on foot until you reach the visitor center.

  • Walking

    If you're starting from downtown Gainesville, head south on SW 1st Avenue until you reach SW 13th Street. Turn left and continue walking until you reach SW 20th Avenue. From there, turn right and walk for approximately 2 miles until you reach US-441. Cross the highway and continue walking south for about 4 miles until you see the entrance to Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park on your right. Walk through the entrance to the visitor center.
