Bus
To reach the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center from Key Largo, start by walking to the nearest bus stop along US-1. Look for the Miami-Dade Transit bus route 38, which services this area. Board the bus heading towards Homestead. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to the intersection of State Hwy 9336 and US-1. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the visitor center. Head west on State Hwy 9336 and keep an eye out for the visitor center on your left.
Bicycle
If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Key Largo. Start your ride on the Florida Keys Overseas Highway (US-1) heading south towards Homestead. The ride is approximately 20 miles, so be prepared for a longer journey. Once you reach the intersection of State Hwy 9336, turn left and continue for about 5 miles. The Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center will be on your right. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow all traffic regulations.
Walking
Walking to the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center is quite a challenge, as it is about 20 miles from Key Largo, but if you're up for a long hike, start by walking down US-1 heading south. Be sure to stay on the sidewalk and follow the pedestrian paths. After about 10 miles, you will reach the intersection with State Hwy 9336. Continue straight for another 5 miles to reach the visitor center. This option is not recommended unless you are very fit and prepared for a long journey.
Ride-sharing
For a more comfortable option, consider using a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft. Open the app on your smartphone and set your destination to 'Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center, 40001 State Hwy 9336, Homestead, FL 33034'. The driver will pick you up from your current location in Key Largo and take you directly to the visitor center. The ride typically takes about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.
