Car
If you're traveling by car, the most straightforward route to Battery Bigelow is to take I-75 South. From wherever you are in North Florida, navigate towards I-75. Once you reach I-75 South, continue until you reach the exit for I-275 South towards St. Petersburg. Follow I-275 South, which will merge into the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. After crossing the bridge, take exit 17 toward Pinellas Bayway. Continue on Pinellas Bayway and follow signs for Fort De Soto Park. The park entrance will lead you to Battery Bigelow, located within Fort De Soto. Be aware that there is a parking fee of approximately $5.00 for entry into Fort De Soto Park.
Public Transportation
To reach Battery Bigelow using public transportation, you will first need to get to the nearest major bus station. If you are in the Jacksonville area, take a Greyhound bus to St. Petersburg. Once in St. Petersburg, transfer to the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) bus route 100X, which operates between St. Petersburg and the beaches. You will need to get off at the stop for Fort De Soto Park. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the entrance of Fort De Soto Park. Please note that the bus fare is approximately $2.00, and you will still need to pay the park entrance fee of around $5.00.
