Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, head towards Pensacola Beach. From the center of Pensacola, take US-98 E. This road will lead you over the Pensacola Bay Bridge. Continue straight on US-98 E, which will eventually turn into Pensacola Beach Blvd. Follow this road until you reach the entrance of Fort Pickens Road. Turn left onto Fort Pickens Rd, and follow it for approximately 3 miles. The fort is located at 1400 Fort Pickens Rd, Pensacola Beach, FL 32561. There is a small entrance fee for vehicles, currently $15, which is valid for up to 7 days.

  • Public Transportation

    If you prefer public transportation, you can take the Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) bus. Board the ECAT Route 61, which travels from downtown Pensacola to Pensacola Beach. This bus will take you as close as possible to Fort Pickens. However, be aware that the bus does not go directly to the fort, so you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service from the closest bus stop to the fort entrance. The bus fare is approximately $1.00, and it runs on a limited schedule, so check the ECAT website for the latest timetable.

  • Bicycle

    For the more adventurous, consider biking to Fort Pickens. You can rent a bike in Pensacola Beach and take the scenic route along the beach. Follow the bike paths that run parallel to Pensacola Beach Blvd and then turn onto Fort Pickens Rd. This route is approximately 3 miles and offers beautiful views of the Gulf. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay hydrated, especially in warmer months.
