Getting There
Public Bus
To reach Myakka River State Park using public transportation, start by heading to the nearest bus stop for Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT). If you're near downtown Sarasota, you can catch the SCAT Route 99 bus from the downtown area. Board the bus and remain on until you reach the transfer hub at the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. At the airport, transfer to Route 18, which will take you towards the park. Stay on Route 18 until you reach the stop closest to the park entrance. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to the entrance of Myakka River State Park.
Bicycle
If you prefer to bike to Myakka River State Park, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Sarasota. Start your journey from downtown Sarasota and head east on Fruitville Road. Follow Fruitville Road until you reach the intersection with State Road 72, where you will turn left. Continue on State Road 72 for about 8 miles, following the signs towards Myakka River State Park. The park entrance will be on your right. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay safe while biking on the roads.
