Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Fort Myers, take I-75 South and exit at 131 for Daniels Parkway. Follow Daniels Parkway to the Sanibel Causeway (approximately 12 miles). Cross the causeway and continue on Sanibel-Captiva Road for about 5 miles. The museum will be on your right at 3075 Sanibel Captiva Rd, Sanibel, FL 33957. Note that there is a toll for the Sanibel Causeway, which costs $6.00 for a standard vehicle.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transport, you will need to take a bus from Fort Myers to Sanibel Island. You can catch the LeeTran Bus Route 50 from the Fort Myers Transit Center. This route will take you to the Sanibel Island bus terminal. Once you arrive at the terminal, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to take you to 3075 Sanibel Captiva Rd, as there are no direct public transportation options to the museum. Expect to spend around $20-$30 for the taxi or rideshare from the bus terminal to the museum.

• Bicycle

  For those who enjoy cycling, consider renting a bike in Fort Myers and riding to Sanibel Island. After crossing the Sanibel Causeway, you can follow the bike paths along Sanibel-Captiva Road, which leads directly to the museum. Bring water and snacks, as it’s a 15-mile ride and can take about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace. Remember to wear a helmet and be cautious of traffic; no additional costs besides bike rental are expected.
