Walking
If you are in downtown St. Augustine, start at the Historic District Visitor Center located at 10 S Castillo Dr. From there, head south on Castillo Drive until you reach the intersection with A1A S (South). Turn right onto A1A S and continue walking for about 4.5 miles. You will pass through some residential areas, and after about 90 minutes of walking, you will reach Fort Matanzas Beach Drive Access, located at 8635 A1A S. The beach access will be on your left.

Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, you can rent one from a local shop in the downtown area. Start at the Visitor Center on Castillo Drive and ride south towards A1A S. Once you reach A1A S, turn right and continue for approximately 4.5 miles. Biking should take around 25-30 minutes. Keep an eye out for the Fort Matanzas Beach Drive Access on your left at 8635 A1A S.

From downtown St. Augustine, walk to the nearest bus stop on King St and catch the 'Old Town Trolley' service that runs south. Make sure to ask the driver for the stop nearest to Fort Matanzas Beach. After getting off, you may have to walk a short distance (about 10 minutes) to reach the beach access point at 8635 A1A S.
