Getting There

• Car

  From any location in Sun Coast, head toward FL-528 E. If you are in a central area, you can easily find signs for FL-528. Take FL-528 E towards Cocoa Beach. Continue on FL-528 E for approximately 20 miles until you reach the exit for Merritt Island. Take exit 52 for Merritt Island and merge onto N Banana River Dr. In about 1.5 miles, turn left onto Pine Island Rd. Continue on Pine Island Rd for roughly 3 miles, and you will find Pine Island Conservation Area on your left at 1655 Pine Island Rd, Merritt Island, FL 32953. Parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you can take the Space Coast Area Transit bus route 9, which connects various parts of the Sun Coast to Merritt Island. Board the bus at any designated stop and ride to the Merritt Island area. Once you reach the Merritt Island Shopping Center, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to Pine Island Conservation Area, as it is approximately a 10-minute drive away (about 3 miles). Expect to pay around $10-15 for the taxi or rideshare service.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, you can bike to Pine Island Conservation Area. Starting from central Sun Coast, head towards FL-528 E and use the bike lanes where available. Once you reach Merritt Island, turn onto Pine Island Rd. The ride is approximately 15 miles one way, and you will enjoy scenic views along the way. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water for the ride.

• Walking

  If you're already in the vicinity of Merritt Island, walking to Pine Island Conservation Area is an option. From nearby residential areas, navigate towards Pine Island Rd and follow the road to the conservation area. Be mindful that walking might take considerable time, depending on your starting point. Ensure you have appropriate walking gear and stay hydrated.
