Discover more about La Montagne des Singes

La Montagne des Singes, established in 1969 by Gilbert de Turckheim and Jacques Renaud, provides an unparalleled glimpse into the world of Barbary macaques. Unlike traditional zoos, this park allows over 200 monkeys to roam freely within a vast, 24-hectare forest. Visitors can observe the monkeys' social interactions, hierarchies, and parenting behaviors in a natural setting. The park is committed to education, scientific research, and conservation. Naturalist guides are present throughout the park to explain the monkeys' behaviors and answer questions. Feeding sessions occur regularly, providing further insight into the lives of these fascinating primates. Visitors can also explore the "In the skin of a monkey" trail, an educational experience focused on primates and biodiversity. La Montagne des Singes is not only a unique attraction but also plays a vital role in the conservation of Barbary macaques, an endangered species native to the mountains of North Africa. The park participates in collaborative conservation programs in Morocco and has seen several generations of monkeys born within its grounds. The park is part of a network of similar parks in France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
