Originally opened in 1847, the station faced near-total destruction during World War I and again in World War II. The current structure, a 1955 reconstruction by renowned architect Auguste Perret, showcases a functional yet grand design, reflecting the post-war modernist aesthetic.The station serves as a vital connection point for regional and national destinations, including Rouen, Calais, Lille, Reims, Compiègne, and Paris-Nord. While it doesn't directly serve the TGV high-speed train, a bus service connects travelers to the Haute-Picardie TGV station. Inside, a large concourse spans the six platforms, streamlining passenger flow. The station's district was registered as a historic monument in 2004.Located on Place Alphonse Fiquet, the station is conveniently situated near the city center. The Tour Perret, a tower built by Auguste Perret, stands close to the station. The square in front of the station, redesigned by architect Claude Vasconi, features a glass roof that provides shelter.
