Église Saint-Acheul d'Amiens is a Catholic church located in the Saint-Acheul district of Amiens. The church's origins trace back to the 3rd century with Saint Firmin of Amiens, whose remains were buried in Abladène (now Saint-Acheul). By the 5th century, martyrs Ache and Acheul were also said to be buried there.In 1085, Bishop Roric of Amiens established an abbey of Canons Regular following the rule of Saint Augustine. This abbey was built on the site, and its church eventually became the Église Saint-Acheul we see today. The abbey was rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries but was dissolved in 1790 during the French Revolution. In 1814, the buildings were taken over by a college entrusted to the Jesuits, which closed in 1830. Today, a private school, Lycée Saint-Riquier, occupies the site.The church itself was rebuilt between 1750 and 1770 in a classical style. The stone facade features a semi-circular door framed by Tuscan pilasters. Above, a bay and niches are set between Doric pilasters, supporting an entablature with triglyphs and a triangular pediment. Inside, a vault under the choir marks the spot where Saint Firmin's body was discovered. The church also houses 15th-century bas-reliefs depicting Saint Firmin's life and several sarcophagi.
