Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Avignon Central Train Station (Gare d'Avignon Centre), exit the station and head southwest on Avenue de la République. Continue straight until you reach the Place de l'Horloge, which will take about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Place de l'Horloge, you will see the Palais des Papes in the distance. Walk towards the Palais, which is located at Place du Palais. The entire journey should take around 20-25 minutes.

  • Public Transport (Bus)

    From the Avignon Central Train Station, you can take Bus Line 1 (Ligne 1) towards 'Avignon - Le Pontet'. Alight at the stop 'Palais des Papes', which is a short ride of about 10 minutes. From the bus stop, you will see the Palais directly in front of you. Just walk a few steps to reach the entrance.

  • Walking from Place de l'Horloge

    If you are already at Place de l'Horloge, you can walk to Palais des Papes in about 5-10 minutes. Head east on Rue de la République, and then turn right onto Rue de la Petite Saunerie. Continue straight until you reach Place du Palais, where the Palais des Papes is located.

  • Walking from Avignon City Center

    If you are in the heart of Avignon, such as near the Pont Saint-Bénézet, walk north along Rue des Teinturiers and then turn left onto Rue de la République. Walk straight until you reach Place de l'Horloge, then follow the previous instructions to get to Palais des Papes.
