If you are already in Avignon Old Town, the easiest way to reach Musée du Petit Palais is by walking. From the Place de l'Horloge, head northeast towards the Rue de la République. Continue on Rue de la République until you reach the Rue des Teinturiers. Turn right into Rue des Teinturiers and follow it until it merges into Rue de la Croix. Keep walking straight until you reach the Palais des Archevêques. The museum is located within this complex on Place du Palais, which is just a few steps away.
