Place du Palais is centrally located within Avignon's historic city walls and is easily accessible on foot from most points within the city center. From the main train station (Avignon Centre), walk straight along Cours Jean Jaurès, the main thoroughfare, for about 10-15 minutes. You'll pass the Tourist Office on your right. Continue straight, and the Palais des Papes and Place du Palais will be directly in front of you as you enter the heart of the old city. The walk is mostly flat and straightforward.

Avignon's public transport system, Orizo, serves the city and surrounding areas. Several bus lines stop near Place du Palais. Check the Orizo website or app for the most up-to-date schedules and routes. The main bus stops in central Avignon are in front of the main post office (La Poste), on the place Pie (by Les Halles, Avignon's covered market) and on the rue de la République. From any of these stops, Place du Palais is a short walk. A single ticket costs €1.40.

Alternatively, consider using one of the park-and-ride facilities (P+R Italiens or P+R Piot) located outside the city walls and taking a shuttle bus into the center. The shuttle is free from the parking to the city center.
