Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Palais des Papes, walk south along Place du Palais, then turn left onto Rue de la Balance. Continue onto Rue des Marchands, then turn right onto Rue du Vieux Sextier. Turn left onto Rue Laboureur; the Musée Angladon will be on your right. The walk is approximately 5-10 minutes. No costs are associated with walking.

    The Orizo bus system is the main mode of public transportation in Avignon. From the Avignon Centre train station, take the bus to the 'Hôtel de Ville' stop, which is close to the Musée Angladon. From there, walk along Rue de la République, turn left onto Rue Joseph Vernet, then turn right onto Rue Laboureur. The museum will be on your left. A single ticket costs €1.40.

The Musée Angladon, officially named Musée Angladon - Collection Jacques Doucet, is located in the hôtel de Massilian at 5 rue Laboureur in Avignon. The museum was established in 1996, fulfilling the wishes of Jean and Paulette Angladon-Dubrujeaud, heirs to the widow of Parisian couturier Jacques Doucet.The collection spans from the 18th to the 20th century and includes paintings, drawings, furniture, and objets d'art. The ground floor is dedicated to prominent artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Degas, Daumier, Cézanne, Manet, Picasso, Modigliani, and Van Gogh. The first floor recreates the ambiance of an art lover's home, with themed rooms showcasing European and Far Eastern art from the Renaissance to the 18th century.Jacques Doucet (1853–1929) was a French fashion designer and art collector. He established one of the first haute-couture fashion houses in Paris and amassed a significant collection of drawings, paintings, furniture, and objets d'art. Doucet's heirs, Jean and Paulette Angladon-Dubrujeaud, were both artists. They bequeathed their home and the art collection to the Angladon-Dubrujeaud Foundation, which was charged with establishing the museum.
