    Holland Bastion, or Bastion de la Hollande, is a significant historical landmark in Saint-Malo, France. Built starting in 1674, it formed part of the city's defensive walls, protecting it from potential invasions. The bastion got its name from the war against the Dutch that was ongoing when construction began. Completed by Garengeau, it was armed with cannons in 1696, courtesy of the Count of Toulouse, then Governor of Brittany, as a thank you to the people of Saint-Malo for their contribution to the defense of the country.Walking along the ramparts of Holland Bastion provides a tangible connection to the past.
