Château de Châteauneuf: A Medieval Marvel

The Château de Châteauneuf, also known as the Château de Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, stands as a proud testament to Burgundian history and medieval architecture. Located in the commune of Châteauneuf, approximately 43 kilometers from Dijon, this fortress commands attention with its strategic position and imposing structure. Originally built in 1132 by Jean de Chaudenay for his son Jehan, the castle was intended to secure the road from Autun to Dijon. Jehan took possession in 1175, becoming Jean I de Châteauneuf.
