Discover more about Château de Troussay

Château de Troussay, a hidden gem in the Loire Valley, offers an intimate glimpse into French history and architecture. Often referred to as the smallest of the Loire châteaux, Troussay boasts a rich history dating back to 1450. Originally a simple manor, it was expanded and embellished over the centuries. In 1828, Louis de Saussaye, a historian and heritage conservationist, inherited the property and incorporated architectural elements from other Loire châteaux, creating its unique eclectic style. The château's architecture is a blend of Renaissance and later styles. The François I façade draws inspiration from the Château de Chambord, while the Louis XII façade reflects the Renaissance period. Inside, visitors can explore six rooms on the ground floor, including the Entrance Hall, Dining Room, Music Room, Small Salon, Oval Salon, and Chapel, furnished with a collection of 16th, 17th, and 18th-century pieces. The English-style park surrounding the château features rare, centuries-old trees and two 17th-century pavilions. The park also houses Ouessan black sheep and an aviary of gallinaceous birds. The estate has a long winemaking history, and visitors can enjoy wine tastings. Additionally, the outbuildings house a museum of Sologne with agricultural exhibits. Today, Château de Troussay offers various accommodation options, including guest rooms and cottages, and hosts weddings and events.
