Walking/Hiking
From Argentière, the most direct route to the Argentière Glacier viewpoint typically involves taking the Plan Joran gondola. However, this gondola is closed for renovations during the summer of 2025. As an alternative, hikers can access the trails leading to the viewpoint from the Grands Montets parking area. Follow signs towards the 'Point de Vue Glacier d'Argentière'. The hike is moderately challenging and takes approximately 5 hours round trip. Be prepared for a steep climb with an elevation gain of around 260m. Ensure you have appropriate hiking gear and check trail conditions before setting out.
Public Transport
To reach the Grands Montets parking area from Chamonix, take the local bus or train towards Argentière. The bus stop is located a short walk from the parking area. From the Argentière train station, cross the river via the bridge and walk towards the gondola area. From there, follow the hiking trail signs. Driving
