Public Transport
From Chamonix, take either the train or bus towards Argentière. Both offer frequent services. The train journey to Argentière takes approximately 16 minutes and costs between €1-€3. The bus, operated by Chamonix Mobilité, departs from Place Mont Blanc every 30 minutes and takes around 20 minutes to reach Les Grands Montets. Get off at the 'Les Grands Montets' stop, which is directly at the base of the gondola.
Taxi/Ride-Share
From Chamonix, a taxi or ride-share to Les Grands Montets takes approximately 9 minutes, costing around €20-€24. The taxi will drop you off directly at the base of the Les Grands Montets gondola.
Driving
From Chamonix, follow the main road (Route de Argentière/Route 1506) towards Argentière. The drive is approximately 8km and takes around 9 minutes. Upon arrival in Argentière, follow signs for 'Les Grands Montets'. There is a large free parking area available at the base of the gondola. During peak season, the parking can fill up quickly, so arrive early. Free temporary outdoor parking is located at a place called Les Iles - between Le paravalanche du Lavancher and Argentière. During the Christmas and February school holidays it is connected to Grands Montets and Le Tour by a free shuttle which runs continuously every 45 minutes from 09:15 until 17:30.
