Place Royale: Reims' Royal Heart

Place Royale, located in the heart of Reims, France, is a stunning historical square that embodies the elegance and grandeur of 18th-century French architecture. Constructed between 1757 and 1765 during the reign of King Louis XV, the square was part of a broader urban development plan to modernize and beautify the city. Reims, traditionally the coronation site for French kings, was to be enhanced to elevate its status.The architecture of Place Royale is typical of the 18th century, showcasing neoclassical design with symmetrical façades, arches, and columns. At the center stands a bronze statue of King Louis XV, created by Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, depicting the monarch in Roman attire.
