If you're starting from the Colmar train station, exit the station and walk straight down Rue du Ladhof until you reach the intersection with Rue du Nord. Turn left onto Rue du Nord and continue straight for about 10 minutes. You'll pass by several shops and cafes along the way. Once you reach the Place de la Gare, continue straight, and you'll see signs pointing towards the Vieille ville. Follow the signs, and after about 5 minutes, you'll arrive at Rue des Tanneurs, where the Vieille ville is located.
