Discover more about Bouroullec Fountains

Located on the famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the Bouroullec Fountains, also known as Les Fontaines des Champs-Élysées, provide a modern artistic touch to this iconic Parisian boulevard. Designed by brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, these six bronze fountains are embellished with over 3,000 Swarovski crystals, creating a spectacle of light and water. Commissioned by the Fonds pour Paris, the fountains sit in basins dating back to the 19th century. The crystal-covered branches atop slender towers rotate almost imperceptibly, adding a dynamic element to the display. During the day, sunlight interacts with the water and crystals, producing a glistening effect, while at night, LEDs illuminate the structures. The fountains replaced earlier designs, including those by René Lalique in the 1930s and Max Ingrand in the 1950s. Damaged during celebrations in 1998, the basins were restored and reinvented with the Bouroullec brothers' contemporary vision. The design balances historical tradition with modern aesthetics, using crystal as a nod to the glass found in previous fountains.
